Mayhala's Family Tree

John Vance, William Wordsworth, Moroni Fuller, Eliza Jane Wordsworth, Mayhala May Fuller, Nevada Fern Mooney, Josephine Jewell Mooney, Robert Reed Mooney

Moroni Fuller and Eliza Jane Wordsworth married 3 Mar 1868 in Springville, Utah. Moroni crossed the plains in 1848 with his 16 year old bother, Sanford Fuller. They farmed the land in Springville and on 25 May 1877, one hundred years ago, Mayhala May Fuller was born. She wrote many poems as a young girl and woman, in and around Hobble Creek Canyon, and other areas her father and grandfather had pioneered. She wrote about her mother and father and grandparents. The gospel shaped her life, and it is felt in her writings.

I remember her in my youth, in Portland, Oregon. I can see her standing over a hot stove with her stockings hanging down around her ankles, making delicious meals and loving me as her grandchild. She was a kind and loving grandmother.

She went by the name May, and it is fitting that this book of poems be dedicated to her in the month of May, 100 years after her birth, and that they may become the "Blessings of May" in the lives of all those who read and appreciate them.
