Sobs and Sighs

I came to the river
Of sobs and sighs
With no one to dry
My tear-dimmed eyes

Over its banks
So steep and tall
My weary feet
Did totter and fall

Out on its crest
So stern and cold
My poor frail form
To the ocean rolled

Now on the ocean
Blue I sail
With over my heart
This tear-dimmed veil

In the distance
I can see
The pearly gates
Thrown open to me

O heaven beautiful heaven
The pearly gates I see
For out of the river of sobs and sighs
Your faith has delivered me.
