After His Own Image

I hear a murmuring, murmuring sound
Ever, ever, all around
Earth's full of life and life is breath
The guarded tree that restores death
We die to live and learn there by
God sent us here our souls to try
We always were and always will
'Tis good or evil we fulfill
With souls and bodies not our own
Therefore, we must and shall atone

Just as the child beneath our care
Nothing can buy the love we bear
Yet should we see it go amiss
We'd punish it because of this

Who gets the all, the meager store
The little all of earthly lore
Whether unjustly or in the right
It cannot add to Heaven's delight
Nor purchase in eternal bliss
Your conscience clear if you have this

It cannot at the throne of God
Bury someones blessings that have had
Through grief and sorrow, care and pain
And still had reverence for his name
Enough to keep from guilt or crime
That which God gave to all mankind

Life upon which grew flesh and bone
The guarded tree that God doth own
That always was and always will
Suffer or obey His will

Not with bowed head and hardened hearts
Far from the one that reads such arts
But with bowed heads and hearts like snow
That melts beneath the warm sun glow

We must His teaching here obey
This light has shone since first the day
God placed upon the round earth's span
After His own Image, God made man

We cannot say why so and so
Told me it was not wrong to steal
Or that a Mr. you know who
Told me to lie to earn a deal
For God hath sent His angels down
His prophets to proclaim aloud
"Thou shall not lie, thou shall not steal
Thou shall not disobey your God"

Life is most beautiful if clothed
In robes that from His teachings flow
But if 'tis clothed in robes of sin
Why even Satan pities him
He knows what its wages are
And knows that God alone controls

And after you have been led down
'Tis late, you should of sought and found
The guarded tree to life is good
God's just laws their enrollment
Thus to be partakers of not transgression but atonement.
